State Senator Joan Lovely Appointed Assistant Vice Chair of Ways and Means Committee

(Boston) – Massachusetts Senate President Stan Rosenberg (D-Amherst) announced Senator Joan Lovely (D-Salem) has been appointed Assistant Vice Chair of Ways and Means. Senator Lovely previously has served as a member of the Ways and Means Committee. This news comes on the heels of Senator Lovely’s appointment to Senate Leadership as Assistant Majority Whip.

“It was an honor to receive the news of my appointment to the position of Assistant Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means,” said Senator Joan Lovely. “I am humbled to continue serving on this important committee in this new role. Thank you to Senate President Stan Rosenberg and Chairwoman Karen Spilka for your support and leadership.”

Senator Lovely currently serves on the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, and serves as Vice Chair of the Joint Committees on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight and Children, Families, and Persons with Disabilities.

“Senator Lovely has distinguished herself by the ability to find common ground when negotiating complex and sensitive legislation. She will make an outstanding Assistant Vice Chair of Ways and Means,” said Senate President Stan Rosenberg.

Other appointments include Senator Mike Moore (D-Worcester) as Chair of the Public Safety Committee, and newly elected Senator Cindy Friedman (D-Arlington) as Chair of the Public Service Committee. Senator Pat Jehlen (D-Somerville) has been appointed to the leadership role of Assistant Majority Leader.

“I look forward to my continued work on the budget and the state’s finances in my new position on the Committee. There is a lot of work to be done,” added Senator Lovely.
