Senator Joan Lovely Appointed Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities

Lovely to serve in post vacated by Senator Jennifer Flanagan

(Boston) – Today, Senate President Stan Rosenberg announced the appointment of Senator Joan Lovely to serve as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities. Lovely will serve in this post, which was vacated by Senator Jennifer Flanagan, for the remainder of her term. Senator Lovely was Vice-Chair of the Committee prior to this appointment.

 “It is an honor to be named Chair of the Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities,” stated Senator Lovely. “I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to Senate President Rosenberg for his continued confidence and trust in me. I look forward to leading this Committee and working to address the important issues facing families across the Commonwealth.”

 This appointment adds to the already impressive list of responsibilities Senator Lovely has been charged with this session which also includes serving in Senate Leadership as Assistant Majority Whip, as Assistant Vice Chair of Senate Ways and Means, and as Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight. She also currently serves on the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy, and Joint Committee on Public Health.
