Senator Lovely to be honored by Tufts Dental Facilities

Senator Lovely to be presented with Partner in Service Award

(Wrentham) – Senator Joan Lovely is being presented with the Partner in Service Award by Tufts Dental Facilities tomorrow at Tufts Dental Facilities 40th Anniversary Luncheon. The luncheon is being held in Graves Auditorium at the Wrentham Development Center.

“It is an honor to be recognized by Tufts Dental Facilities,” stated Senator Lovely. “To receive the Partner in Service award is especially meaningful given the critical dental services that Tufts Dental Facilities provides to adults and children with developmental disabilities.”

The Tufts Dental Facilities program began in 1976, as a result of a court order mandating that the commonwealth expand access to medical and dental care for individuals with special needs. Today, the program has more than 6,500 patients who are receiving care from oral health providers who have the expertise, experience and facilities to properly serve patients with special needs.

Many individuals with developmental disabilities are forced to go without necessary dental care that can result in tooth decay, gum disease, pain, infection and tooth loss. TDF’s mission is to ensure that all individuals with disabilities receive dental treatment in a setting that can accommodate their needs.

“I look forward to continuing to work with Tufts Dental Facilities to support the important dental services they provide that are essential to the overall health of those with developmental disabilities,” stated Senator Lovely.
