January 7, 2013
On January 2nd, in a moment of great humility, I took the oath of office to serve as state senator for Danvers, Beverly, Peabody, Salem and Topsfield. I would like to thank the people of these communities for their confidence and express my dedication to serving you.
My journey to represent the 2nd Essex District at the State House was deeply fulfilling, and I sincerely appreciate the efforts of so many volunteers and family who worked on my behalf. I also thank the citizens I spoke with along the footpaths of my campaign—your hopes and worries have inspired me, and I carry them with me every day. Regardless of whom you supported on Election Day, I pledge to represent all of your interests in the Legislature.
I would also like to thank former Senator Fred Berry, whose record of service continues to be a model for me. I welcome the opportunity to succeed him in advocating for the needs of our district.
As the Senate begins its important work, I invite you to join the process. I look forward to hearing more about your concerns as I host local district office hours in the coming weeks. You can also contact my office by phone at (617) 722-1410 or by email at Joan.Lovely@MASenate.gov. Please also know that my door at the State House will always be open.
Again, I thank the people of the 2nd Essex District for the honor of serving you in the Massachusetts State Senate. You can count on me to work tirelessly on your behalf every day.
Senator Joan B. Lovely
Second Essex District
