Senator Lovely Scores 100% on Mass Audubon’s Legislative Report Card

(Boston) – Mass Audubon has released its 2015-2016 Legislative Report Card and State Senator Joan Lovely scored 100%.

Mass Audubon has reported the environmental voting records of the Massachusetts Legislature since 1985. The Report Card is a compilation of roll call votes on priority environmental bills or budget items during formal debate. The purpose of the report card is to inform citizens of their state legislators’ performance in protecting the nature of Massachusetts.

“I am proud to have been ranked so highly by such an important organization,” stated Senator Lovely. “Mass Audubon performs important work defending endangered species, reducing climate change impacts, and conserving land and wildlife. Their effective advocacy has led to shaping sound environmental policy and strengthening environmental laws and regulations in the Commonwealth.”

Last legislative session, a landmark energy bill passed that requires 1,600 MW of energy from the nation’s first ever commercial-scale offshore wind farm, as well as encourages the use of hydropower and other renewables, and enhances opportunities for large-scale energy storage.

Senator Lovely added, “I look forward to continuing to work with Mass Audubon this session on our mutual goals.”
